01 / Principle
The collector is the client of the decision.
The collector-facing product is designed to optimize for the collector's supported outcome, not for transaction volume inside a particular marketplace or commercial channel.
About Blue Dial Labs
Blue Dial Labs is an independent software company focused on decision and data infrastructure for the watch world.
Why we exist
A collector can find dozens of listings for the same reference and still not know which opportunity is actually better. Condition, completeness, seller context, warranty, geography, fees, taxes, and transaction terms can make the lowest advertised price a worse purchase. The real decision is not simply what is available, but whether to act now, keep watching, or do nothing.
01 / Principle
The collector-facing product is designed to optimize for the collector's supported outcome, not for transaction volume inside a particular marketplace or commercial channel.
02 / Independence
Compensation may support the business, but it cannot improve a WristOwl offer rank, stated confidence, or collector-facing recommendation.
03 / Infrastructure
Canonical watch identity, attributable evidence, comparable economics, and confidence-aware matching create the foundation for useful downstream decisions.
In practical terms, that means recognizing when differently described offers refer to the same reference or variant and determining whether their prices and terms are actually comparable.
Founder & origin
Ivan Valiente, the founder of Blue Dial Labs, is himself a watch collector and a Systems Architect and Software Engineer with more than two decades of experience designing, building, and deploying scalable web applications, e-commerce systems, and enterprise backend platforms. His background spans software architecture, object-oriented design, and taking complex technical projects from concept through production. Blue Dial Labs grew from a simple principle: purchase decisions should be optimized for the collector, not for the economics of a particular marketplace or sales channel.
Where we are today
We are implementing and validating the acquisition-first collector workflow while building the canonical watch identity infrastructure it depends on. WristOwl and WristAtlas are working product names, not announcements of finished public products.
